Do your children look forward to having that dessert after dinner? How about your husband and yourself for that matter? Making those homemade goodies takes time, something you may be short on in your daily life.
Autumn is a great time to bake because it’s cooler and a lot of the activities that kept you busy over the summer, are now long gone. Nothing smells better than a house filled with the aroma of fresh baked goodies. Having homemade baked goods in the house is a welcome treat for the whole family.
With the winter months coming, there will be planned and unplanned visitors coming to your home for the holidays. Now is the time to start preparing for these events. Find recipes that freeze well and take a weekend to do your baking.
It is best to stick with recipes that aren’t too involved if you are making them ahead of time. Making those cheesecakes that everyone loves is a very time consuming process but well worth the effort. Pick out your favorite cheesecake recipe and make one or two and freeze them. Be sure to store them tightly wrapped in foil. I take it one step further and put my cakes in an extra large zipper bag before I freeze them.
Individual servings of muffins in cupcake tins make an easy breakfast. You can make these a healthy option for your family and house guests by adding great ingredients like oatmeal for fiber and fruits like bananas. Making loaves of breads from these recipes is another great way for your guests to start their day. Make up a tray of assorted breads and your guests will come back next year.
Be sure to start watching the supermarket ads for sales on your baking supplies. Spreading the cost out over a few weeks really helps with your grocery budget. Look for coupons in magazines and online to help defray the costs. A lot of stores will offer specials around this time of the year, just keep an eye out for them.
Preparing ahead of time helps with your stress level during the busy time around the holidays. But remember, doing baking like this all year long will simplify your life and make your family extremely happy campers. Happy Baking!!!
