BBQ Sauce Recipes – Regional Differences In Taste

No one ever willing to give up their BBQ sauce recipes, and with some ground information on BBQ you too can have your own delicious recipe. Depending on where you live, certain types of sauces might be more prominent. Specifically, the bases for your area’s barbecue may be certain items. For example, the Carolinas mostly use sauces that are vinegar and mustard based, while Texas-style BBQ sauce starts with a tomato base.

While you do not have to work with the bases that are mainly found in BBQ sauce recipes in your region, it is good to know so that you can figure out specific tastes you like and incorporate them into your own custom sauce.

The sauces that can be found at grocery stores are usually dull and do not have the same tang that the ones made at home do. While it would be nice to say that it is because they are mass-produced, the real reason is that BBQ-making companies simply can not make delicious BBQ for every region. Not only that, but there are just some ingredients that seem to be loved all over the country. However, do not let store-bought BBQ flavors entice or confuse you: real barbecue is made a certain way and if you want to make a sauce that is truly delicious, you are going to have to really dive into the world of barbeque.

You will find that most sauces are tomato, vinegar, or mustard based. The taste tells all when trying to figure out what a sauce’s base is. Those that are based with vinegar tend to be more sour, while those that are mustard-based are more tangy. Ones that are tomato-based are often thicker than the other two and can be used to host a whole array of flavors at once.

But the bases are not all: the seasoning must be considered as well. Some of the most common seasonings are: Worcestershire sauce, onion, paprika, molasses, lemon, salt and pepper, bourbon, cayenne, and even some fruits. While this is a large list, choose some of those and more to find the perfect taste. Depending on where you are from and sauces that you grew up with, you could like certain flavors that are vastly different from what someone on the other side of the country would.

That’s the great thing about barbecue: everyone has a difference recipe, and those that make it put their heart and soul into making an irresistible sauce. There’s no question that the flavor of BBQ sauce recipes is a regional thing BBQ sauce recipes are definitely regional, but the joy that comes from chowing down on some quality BBQ is universal.

Almost everyone loves barbecue, and with the huge complexity of flavors available it’s not hard to see why. Learn more about the wonderful process of making your own barbecue and roasting, grilling, or even frying it to perfection at my site. Bon appetit!
