Meat production is decried by vegetarians because it requires the killing of animals, but meat-lovers say this protein source is necessary to maintain good overall health. Some have taken vegetarian principles even further, eliminating food sources that have been processed in any fashion, and that includes cooking. A vegetarian based raw food diet includes unprocessed or cooked foods such as fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts, beans, seeds, sprouts, grains, seaweed and dried fruit.</p>
<p>Vegan or vegetarian ideas are not new, but the thought of living and relying totally on these unprocessed sources of nutrition can cause some meat-lovers to roll their eyes in amusement and disgust. The idea of returning to an idealized &#8220;natural&#8221; state of eating seems unpractical and even dangerous to some people. Is it possible to remain healthy after eliminating cooking? Doesn&#8217;t cooking make food safer, and more palatable? The answer is not totally clear-cut, but there are some proven advantages to following this regimen.</p>
<p>One of the most visually obvious benefits is weight loss. It is no secret that we eat too much fat, sugar, and salt, key components of food production today. Over one-third of us are overweight, and obesity is skyrocketing, especially among young people. Diseases such as diabetes and certain kinds of heart problems are linked to our eating habits. One undeniable advantage to eating raw is that it is virtually impossible to gain weight, and most people shed a significant amount.</p>
<p>Advocates of this eating method point out that body weight is not an isolated issue, because it reflects the overall state of bodily health, including the digestive system and all related functions. There are many reasons given for the weight loss that occurs when such a diet is adopted. The primary cause seems to be that the elimination of the ingredients that go into food processing are simply not healthy, and cause the body to store fat rather than utilize it. Raw foods contain enzymes that cooking seems to destroy.</p>
<p>Enzymes are complex proteins and serve as catalysts in most biochemical reactions. Without them, staying alive would be impossible, and uncooked food practitioners say their method combats obesity by beneficially altering the entire biological functioning of the body. There is some controversy over whether we eating raw foods with their unprocessed enzymes can actually increase lifespan or aid digestion. Enzymes get destroyed by stomach acid whether they are obtained from raw or cooked food, but pro-raw people claim the benefits outweigh any disadvantages.</p>
<p>Pro-raw advocates insist that the positive aspects are greater than the disadvantages. They point out that unprocessed foods are digested more easily, and their energy is more readily available. But there are drawbacks, and it can be wrong to assume a raw diet is good for everyone. Some people simply don&#8217;t feel well on this eating plan, and disease prevention is an unproven benefit. Vitamin deficiencies and bone problems can crop up. Cooking reduces excess fiber, and can release beta-carotene and anti-oxidants. Switching to an unprocessed diet is not effortless in that it does require more food preparation, and some people not overweight to begin with can look gaunt after a while. And, one of the biggest benefits of cooking is that it eliminates food-borne disease.</p>
<p>This is a plan that must be evaluated individually. There is absolutely no doubt that eating whole, natural fruits and vegetables, especially those produced organically, greatly benefits health, and doesn&#8217;t kill animals. But, as with any plan, one size does not fit all, and should not be promoted as a cure-all for everyone. There are individuals who have used a raw food diet to become healthier, stabilize their weight, and increase their general well being. Those interested in adopting such a regimen should carefully read all the information available before making a decision to drastically change their eating habits.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Believe it or not, there are numerous men I&#8217;ve met that either couldn&#8217;t have the ability to or wouldn&#8217;t desire to enter a kitchen to try and do well simple things like fix themselves a cup full of tea or boil an egg. Pity is the fact that these men either land up using a tea bag or having cornflakes for breakfast!</p>
<p>With increasing gender role reversals and a larger quantity of women joining the workforce, a growing number of men are venturing into a region where few men have gone before. Your home kitchen! And not simply to smell what&#8217;s cooking!</p>
<p>A few of these men cook and consider it a chore. Numerous guys have learnt to actually grin and bear it! At the other end of the spectrum you can find men like me who actually cook with flair and aplomb and look forward to showing their skills. I belong to the latter group of men. Yes, I have already been cooking for some time now and also have my own, personal fan club!</p>
<p>I can vouch for the fact that cooking is usually great fun. If you have a creative hidden streak within you then you can certainly express yourself by cooking. The point is to make a beginning. As they say, there is certainly many a slip between the cup as well as the lip. This saying is fully applicable if you wish to learn how to cook. You will end up making mistakes and make a fool of yourself at the same time. And several days will go by before you can actually make a great breakfast in bed for that special someonein your own life! Prepare yourself to educate yourself from your mistakes.</p>
<p>Begin small. Don&#8217;t think you&#8217;ll make a perfect Quiche Lorraine before you actually learn how to make an omelet or an egg done sunny side up. Become familiar with your ingredients well and fully familiarize yourself with the topology of your kitchen. Unless you are a bachelor that may not be totally under your control! Organize yourself and make sure that you don&#8217;t leave the kitchen in a mess every time you cook. In the end you want to cook to impress the ladies and not receive an earful from them!</p>
<p>If you discover the interior of your kitchen intimidating and you have lots of space out in the balcony or patio, then purchase a barbecue or grill and learn to use it. There&#8217;s a peculiar kind of magic that takes place when you arm a person with charcoal, propane, a spatula, barbecue sauce and an outdoor grill! Men think it is incredibly macho to cook outside on a barbecue.</p>
<p>If you feel that outdoor barbecuing and grilling is your thing then give it all you got! Maybe it will be arranging a romantic dinner on a table underneath the stars and not breakfast in bed that&#8217;s your calling! The point is you will probably have fun, study a lot and put a smile on faces!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>How many times a day are you craving candy? A startling new survey shows that the more the sweets, the higher the chances of developing heart disease as you get older! Maybe cutting back on the tasty treats isn&#8217;t a bad idea after all.</p>
<p>As per the new study, continually adding more sugar to one&#8217;s daily diet, drastically increases the risk factors for heart disease. Higher levels of triglycerides in the blood stream than deemed healthy, and subsequent lower levels of HDL or &#8216;good cholesterol&#8217;, play havoc with the internal balance of the body.</p>
<p>Being humans, we all need statistics and numbers to convince us of any reality. Thus, 6000 men and women participated in a quantitative-analysis of their meals. At 16 percent, added sugar took up a leading position among the contributors to the daily calorie intake.</p>
<p>Quite literally the sweetest participants were fueled by 46 teaspoonfuls of sugar in the day, while their counterparts diligently said &#8216;No to toffees&#8217; and had just 3 teaspoonfuls per day.</p>
<p>Now all fruits and vegetables come with natural sugars. These are easily breakable during digestion and thus cause no harm to the body. Sugars found in processed food and preservatives must thus be taken only in limited quantities, 9 teaspoons for men and 6 for women.</p>
<p>Did you know that soft drinks contain a phenomenally high amount of sugar? If you&#8217;re drinking a coke a day to supposedly aid your digestion, put that away. Scientists that conduct surveys such as these, do it with the purpose of educating food and beverage producers to make their foods healthier, consequently reducing the risk of heart disease and obesity. In that line, many states are encouraged to tax users for their soft drink consumption.</p>
<p>Annual consumption of carbonated drinks is estimated to be about 50 gallons. If just a half-cent sales tax on the sugary brew could result in a 10 gallon drop in sales per year, imagine how much calories we are keeping at bay!</p>
<p>When you cross the safe limit of sugar consumption in your diet, it is bound to lead to a variety of health risks. Besides weakening of the heart, your blood pressure is at risk too leading to increased occurrence of diabetes and stroke. Nothing says summer more than an open-air barbecue moreover nothing is healthier on the barby than steak. Steak is possibly the quintessential barbecue food. Anybody can grill a hot dog or a hamburger, but grilling steak to perfection above hot coals is an art. Unfortunately, it is an art form that few understand. <p>The first step in properly grilling steak is choosing the best cut for your budget and taste. All steak is not created equal. After the down surface is gray and seared, turn the steak over and allow it cook an additional three to six minutes. Again, the time should rely on cut and thickness. Turn the steak once and only once! Never fiddle about with it. Leave it be and let it cook. Once the other side is gray and seared, check the steak for the correct level of &#8220;doneness&#8221; via making a tiny cut transversely the grain of the meat. Bear in mind, you could always throw an undercooked steak back on the grill, but once a steak is overcooked, it&#8217;s ruined. If the steak is done, take it off the grill and allow it sit for about five minutes before serving.</p>

<p>However there are also other characteristics which should be taken in mind. Sweetness, strength, bitterness and appearance are also characteristics of the high quality beer. Bitterness is achieved by changing the herbs used and the proportions between different ingredients thus giving you the opportunity to increase or decrease it. Sweetness depends on the amount of sugar while strength is determined by the level of fermentation of the yeasts and fermentation temperatures. However appearance is the most valued characteristic of the beer, because it is the first thing that a man or woman sees in the beverage. Under appearance we mean the clarity, aroma, matte and color of the beer.</p>
<p>There are two main beer styles &#8211; Ale and Lager. Ale beer is made by using only high quality fermented yeasts which are fermented at temperatures higher than those at which the lager beer is fermented. However ale beer is more expensive than lager beer to the quality of the ingredients used and the more complex brewing process.</p>
